Big Brother and the Artificial Eye.

Today I have a theory.. A theory which may shock and astound many..
Nowhere in today's society is the threat of our species degrading into idiocy more apparent than at 7:00 weeknights on channel 10.
How 'Big Brother' is still on the air, and why, remains a baffling and mystifying enigma for any logical person who questions it.
I just watched my first full episode of it tonight. Why? I don't know. I was at home eating dinner and the television was on I guess. But I've never realised quite how terribly crappy the show actually is.

Yeah, there's a house full of people, and yeah, they're being filmed 24-7.. But why? Are they actually doing anything constructive? No, (well, other than improving their own personal fitness by using the gym equipment all day, highly entertaining stuff there).
The entire show tonight was about the 'housemates' dobbing each other in after the guys played a prank on the girls in the house. What was this prank? Pure genius I tell you. The guys went into the girls toilet and excreted all over their seat.

. . .

I'm totally serious. That was the prank.
If this is television, then it's a sad and sorry day for humanity. Seriously..
On top of the show's over-rated, over-hyped, nauseating and substandard production values, it's also a terrible insult to George Orwell's 1984. 1984 tells the story of an opressed people governed and ruled entirely by a figure known as Big Brother around the time of the second world war..
I wouldn't even mind this that much, but the first rule of insulting is if you're going to insult someone or something, at least do it well..
In the last ten seconds I thought of at least ten things they could do to make that show better, one of which was cancelling it.

But enough of the social commentary, in other, more interesting and important news, German scientists have created the first artificial eye, which you can read about here. Apparently it can see in shades of grey and differentiate between light and dark. The scientists responsible are hopeful that it will have the ability to be implanted in the next few years. Amazing huh?

I'm anxious to see how they're going to manage that. It's no easy feat replacing any body part, but the eye?
No doubt they'll come up with something. They invented the VW right?
